They finally released tour dates!!! I am SO PUMPED!!! (I already said that didn't I? Sorry, I just can't help it!) So which of these dates am I going to try and make. Obviously Birmingham. But Atlanta is the same week--I gotta separate it out a few paychecks. Same deal with New Orleans. And Nashville...well, it's Nashville. Enough said. I'd be all about Nashville if I were going to see Toby Keith maybe but not Creed....plus I saw them in Nashville in '02. Hmmm....what to do what to do....input anyone? I'd LOVE to do Hershey, PA!!! Wouldn't that totally rock? hehe

Oh well, unlike my Twilight obsessed daughter, I AM capable of having a conversation about something other than Creed even though they are SO FABULOUS!!!
Okay, okay for real...
Last week, hell froze over. I agreed with Rick & Bubba and John Rodgers in the same day. Truth be told, my liberal bleeding heart probably agrees with a lot of things John Rodgers says. But who the heck can understand him? I probably wouldn't have this time if not for Rick Journey conducting the interview! LOL But I totally agree if we have to have an occupational tax (and I am by no means saying we should!) then EVERYBODY SHOULD HAVE TO PAY. NO EXCEPTIONS!!
Then on the way to work, I was scanning for stations and some part of my morbid self always has to stop and hear Rick & Bubba for a few minutes to see what they are griping and complaining about that day--it's always something. They have got to be the two most miserable people in the world and I have NEVER cared much for either one. Now I do have deep sympathy for Rick over the loss of his son as anyone should. But from the day those two lame-brains first hit the airwaves, I've never thought they were funny and now they don't even try. It's like they want to be Rush Limbaugh or something. And don't even get me started on that sleezebucket. I know this probably makes some of you guys mad at me. So be it. Hate me if you want to, love me if you can.
But God help me, they were actually making sense that day, talking about some idiot who did a study on how overweight people are more of a drain on the planet. If anyone's a drain on the planet it's morons who conduct these useless studies! Please!
And I'm sure by now most of you have heard the story about how my super intelligent honor society son forgot that he had TWO sisters Thursday night. Yep. He picked up Brooke from dance and forgot to wait on Kayti! Heaven help me! What's more, Brooke didn't even remind him that Kayti was there. Both had a total airhead moment.
I am working my hind parts off trying to learn tap. Tap has never been my strong point. In fact, I only took one year of tap as a child. I can teach it--I know the steps and can perform them slow enough to show them to someone else. But, especially being overweight, this is hard! LOL I get so tickled at myself. I'll get it. I've always been able to pick things up pretty quickly. But I SURE wish we were doing a hip-hop/jazz kind of thing or even bellydance. Can we bellydance next year, Shalita? HEHE
Okay, so gotta go!

I still feel like I'm dreaming! I wish they'd hurry up and release tour dates! I'm waiting on making my beach trip plans--my whole summer is going to revolve around this tour! Call me crazy, call me whatever you want. Think whatever you want. I DO NOT care!

Whoa, what a ride....
Sooooo much has happened in the last few weeks, I've not had time to stop and take a breath from it, let alone blog about it! But I'll see if I can fill you in...
Well, we've had the sickies at our house. First it was me, then Jeff, then me again and then Brooke and now Dylan. I was even sick on my 39th birthday! Yes, I am 39 (and holding!) I got a little cash from my parents and the in-laws and we got takeout from the Mexican place because I just didn't feel like going out.
I guess the best news (aside from the Creed reunion--hahahaha) is that my darling precious son was tapped into the National Honor Society! I am so proud of him! And I'm proud of his friends, too--most of them were tapped as well. In fact, I think I counted 5 from our church and three of those, including Dylan also made...
Super Scholar! Sometime ago, they all took the PSAT and scored in the top 100 sophomores in the Jefferson County school system! So that not only includes the 300+ sophomores at Clay-Chalkville, but also however many there are at Gardendale, Fultondale, Pinson, Pleasant Grove, Shades Valley, Jefferson County International Baccalaureate and whatever other schools that I can't think of that are in the system. There were only 16 from CC to make it and of those 16--3 were from Clearview! We have such outstanding youth! I am so proud of all of them!
Last Sunday, Easter Sunday to be exact, we took a family trip to Oak Mountain. We just picnicked, the kids rode paddle boats, the boys fished, sat around yapping and the girls hunted easter eggs. My Mom always hides money in her eggs! We didn't get to do the annual Easter beer hunt--too crowded. The beer drinkers in the family didn't want anyone else finding their beer! LOL
The Friday before Easter, we had to take a middle-of-the-night trip to the ER with Brooke. She couldn't breathe and we assumed she was having an asthma attack. Dylan and Kayti both developed exercise-induced asthma at her age and Jeff had asthma as a child. But they couldn't find anything wrong with her so I have to follow up with her ped. I have just about figured out that her reflux must be back. I had forgotten all about it since she hasn't had any problems in a long time but Jeff (who also has reflux) said that sometimes it makes you feel as if you can't breathe. She's fine though, for the most part.
This past weekend, we had dance competition at the Alabama Theatre. It was a LONG day! But the girls seemed to have fun dancing on that famous stage! We always enjoy going to the Alabama, no matter what the reason and we had dinner at a Mexican place on Southside. The girls took gold on both their dances.
Last Monday, I started my annual Spring cleaning by rearranging all the furniture in the living room, bedroom and girls' bedroom. I was so sore the next day!
This Friday wraps up the last day of American Girl class. I am so excited for this co-op to be over. I've really enjoyed teaching this subject matter and the girls are great but I have not enjoyed this co-op for various reasons. I guess it's God's way of helping me cut ties with something I have to give up anyway.
At work, we are studying caterpillars and butterflies and my chrysallides have arrived! There are roughly 30 or so and we have a pavillion to transfer them to. I am so excited about all the fun things I get to do with the kids.
My little dance class is coming right along. They pretty much have Broadway Baby down. They LOVE to tap! And we're about done learning I Won't Grow Up, too. They are going to be so precious and I am so proud of them!
Guess that's about it! For now anyway...
I'll share more pictures very soon!

The best news and the worst news...
I received both in the same day! Talk about a total mind-blower! Which shall I begin with?
Okay, I'll start with the best news:
Can you guess?
I'll bet you can't!
I was just thinking a few weeks ago how great this would be if it could really happen....
But nah! That'll never happen. It's over, done, finished.
But wait!
Oh
my
gosh...
Can it really be true?
It is!!!!
Yeah!!!!
Awesome!!!
They are back together for a reunion tour!!!!
Yes, really!!
Creed is back together!!!!
Oh my gosh! They are like my favorite rock band (after the Beattles)!! I am a HUGE Creed fan. Always have been, always will be! And no, it's not because Scott Stapp is so drop-dead gorgeous. And yes, I know he has his share of personal problems (who doesn't?) But their music is just....oh gosh, it speaks to my heart. One of the most profound spiritual experiences I have ever had was at one of their concerts! Think what you will. But they are awesome. I saw them 3 times in 2002. I could not get into Alter Bridge (Mark Tremonti, Scott Phillips and Brian Marshall's reformed group) nor could I get into Scott Stapp and the Great Divide. They have to be together! That's the magic. I cannot wait. I will SO be there if I have to sell every pint of blood in my body and a few organs. It's that important! And this time I'll probably have a little offspring with me who is also a huge Creed fan! Hey, I raise 'em right! I am so pumped!!!
Or I was....
until I found out that one of the most beloved people I have ever met has passed away. :(
Billy Jack "Handsome Bill" Holcombe, father of the late Wendy Holcombe (some of you older folks or home-grown country bumpkins like me may remember her from Hee Haw and Country Boy Eddie) has passed away.
The girls and I first met Handsome Bill in the Fall of 2006. I was covering Seniors News for the Clay News and they took a trip out there and asked us to come along. I have never met a sweeter man, nor a more hysterical one, in my life. A longtime fan of the old cowboys Roy Rogers, Matt Dillon, etc., he had built a replica cowboy town in his backyard! It was complete with a saloon, old store, church, jail, the O.K. Corral, the chuckwagon---everything. He told the funniest stories about growing up in Alabama and shared treasured memories of his daughter, Wendy, whose life and promising career as a musician and country music performer had been cut short from a heart defect in the late 80's.
My girls enjoyed him so much that we organized a field trip for Camp Fire to the Lonesome Dove a few months later. It was awesome! He really kept the kids entertained and I think he really enjoyed them being there. I know they really enjoyed meeting him and seeing his place.
My girls and I were just talking about him the other day and thinking we really need to go back and see him again. I still cannot believe he's gone. Brooke wonders what will happen to his place now. I hope, even though it will not be the same without Handsome Bill, they keep it up for visitors.
I went from being so excited to so completely heartbroken. My prayers are definitely with his family.
